Antique 1850 Applique Love Apple Quilt
Description: This 1850 red and green Love Apple quilt is from the Sue C. Cummings Collection in Ohio. Love apples were grown for ornament in flower gardens of many homes in days gone by and 12 Love Apple trios are featured on this lovely quilt. It is framed with a red and green swag and tassel border and beautifully hand appliqued and quilted by an experienced quilter. The heavy quilting features feather plumes, outline, hearts, shells and more. There are 10 small and straight stitches to the inch. The back is white with a hand stitched double pink binding that is applied. The batting is thin. 100% cotton.
Condition: It is in good, sturdy and clean condition. There are random signs of age with brown spots. The background fabric used on the love apple blocks differs from the overall background fabric and the age discoloration is a little darker. I saw one tiny tiny hole. It is a lovely quilt in overall very good condition. (Please see photos).
