Antique Circa 1790 Philadelphia Quaker Graphic Star Silk Quilt
Description: This 1790′s Graphic Star Silk Quilt is in amazing condition. Silk in the 18th & 19th century was strictly the fabric of the wealthy. Because silks of this era were manufactured for affluent buyers, they were high quality and have retained their original strength, luster, and condition today. Silk quilts were not made to be used, but to be displayed. It is hand pieced and quilted. It is heavily quilted with double line outline quilting. The quilter has shown her skill with straight and even stitches, 8-9 stitches to the inch. The black binding is hand applied and the back of the quilt is brown. The batting is thin.
Condition: It is in very good condition. One tiny hole is present. A few squares are experiencing some browning or sign of age. (Please see photos). Overall the quilt is Strong, Sturdy and Clean.
